Space is limited to the first 25 people who register. Participants will need to arrange their own
transportation; carpooling is encouraged. The tour lasts approximately 60–90 minutes, so we
recommend having lunch beforehand. We may arrive anytime between noon and 12:45pm to take
outdoor photos, enjoy a picnic lunch, and visit the Welcome Center, which includes a gift shop, an
archive display, an informative video, and restrooms.
Suggested Donation: $20
STEPPING STONES is the historic home of Alcoholics Anonymous co-founder Bill Wilson (Bill W.) and his wife, Lois Wilson (Lois W.), co-founder of Al-Anon/Alateen, located in Bedford Hills, New York. The site includes the Wilsons’
home—a 1920 Dutch Colonial Revival structure—along with Bill W.’s writing studio, known as “Wit’s End.”
Visitors can also see approximately 15,000 objects left by the Wilsons, including furniture and memorabilia; a water
pump house; the original one-car garage; and a two-car garage that now serves as a Welcome Center. The Welcome
Center features an orientation display highlighting select items from the more than 100,000 pieces in the Stepping
Stones Archives. The grounds include a flower garden, a community vegetable garden, and additional outdoor
features. Lois Wilson left the property to the Stepping Stones Foundation, the nonprofit, tax-exempt organization she
founded in 1979. Since her death in 1988, the Foundation—supported by friends of Stepping Stones—has maintained
and preserved the site and offers guided tours by reservation.
